Remembering a special aunt...

Today would have been my Aunt Net's 88th birthday. I say would've been, because she passed away in August of 1991. Had she lived she would've seen so many other things come to pass. The birth of my son, Dylan in December of 1992.  The demise of my second marriage to a man she felt was wrong for me from the get go.  I met him in May of the year she died so she did not know him very long, but I suppose she knew him long enough.  She was right, he was wrong. Of course had that marriage not taken place, my son would not have been born. I degress...

If she was still alive, she would have outlived her husband, both her brothers and her sister-in-law. She would've seen my mother's fight with dementia that has led to her having to live in a nursing home. She would have seen both of my sons graduate from college, the oldest from the Naval Academy and the youngest from UNT. She would've seen my oldest son marry and father two beautiful little girls and become successful in real estate in Florida. She would've seen my youngest beginning what I hope will be a lucrative career in advertising. She would've seen me get married, yet again.  Third time's a charm so I'm hoping this one truly will be until death us do part...

I know that things happen for a reason and that of course she left this life when she was supposed to. Had she not, who knows, maybe the whole course of things that came after would have been altered. At any rate, I hope she is looking down and smiling today knowing that I am thinking of her and missing her and hoping that she might be proud of the woman I have become and of the young men that I have raised...

Love you Aunt Net <3 birthday="" br="" happy="" nbsp="">
